Application for Physics teacher training scholarships is open

Are you ready to inspire future generations of physicists with your passion for physics? And to begin a rewarding career as a physics teacher? If so, the IOP is awarding 175 scholarships, continuing professional development support and £26,000 of funding to talented individuals individuals wishing to embark on a career in teaching physics.

Scholarships are for those starting teacher training in England in September 2022.

To be eligibity?

If you have the academic and personal qualities with the ability to communicate clearly and inspire others, enabling you to excel as a physics teacher, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship.

Scholarship applications are now open and the next application deadline is 29 November 2021.

The number of scholarships is limited. And the IoP will close the application process when its has reached capacity, so we advise you to complete your scholarship application as early as possible to avoid disappointment. However, it is crucial that you read the following eligibility criteria carefully before you apply for a scholarship. In summary, to apply for a scholarship you need:

  • a physics or related degree.
  • an excellent academic record, with a first, 2:1, master’s or PhD degree degree (proven or predicted). In exceptional circumstances, applicants with a 2:2 and significant relevant experience will be considered.
  • a physics A-level or equivalent (grade C or above) is desirable.
