Teacher CPD: International trends, opportunities and challenges

Chartered College of Teaching publishes a compendium of articles on Professional Development, with case studies from multiple countries including Canada, New Zealand, Keyna and Japan.

The collection of over 30 articles, case studies and summaries by some of the world’s leading researchers and practitioners shares their own perspectives, projects and reflections around teacher CPD. It showcases some of the trends, opportunities and challenges in developing and enacting powerful professional learning for teachers.

It explores how it might be possible or desirable to assess teacher effectiveness; how teacher CPD is only likely to have an impact when there is a professional culture prioritising CPD that supports teachers to act on their learning; what we know about effective professional learning; the principles around coaching, mentoring and deliberate practice; and the value of collaborative engagement with and in research.
