We have been providing school based initial teacher training for many years, alongside the other core functions of a network of lead schools: research and development; school-to-school support; and continuing professional development for teachers at all stages of their careers. With training Hubs in Cambridge, West Suffolk and Essex [where it was previously known as Essex Primary SCITT] we have strong partnerships with schools across the region.
This means that choosing to train with CTSN will introduce you to a network of training and support that might continue well beyond your initial teacher training.
CTSN SCITT is led by the local school network. Tutors are practising teachers, drawn from a network of more than 100 local schools.
All CTSN’s training is both practically focused, and research-engaged. In addition to the SCITT, CTSN runs a thriving school-based, research community. One of our partner schools is a national research school, and training at every level is linked to the latest educational research into effective teaching and learning.
CTSN is not just about initial teacher training, but is fully involved in developing the Early Career Framework, and all professional qualifications to support colleagues at every stage of their career. Training to teach with CTSN is more than just a one-year commitment.
Hundreds of local teachers have been trained with CTSN and are now working in local schools.
